Description

1980 Austin Mini Clubman, a true example of the iconic British motoring legend. Built as a labor of love by an extremely passionate and seasoned Mini enthusiast with no restrictions and only "the best of the best"- done the old school way. Finished in Renault Formula 1 pearl yellow with a white roof and a 30th anniversary partial leather black interior. Bought in England by the previous owner in 2009 where a full, proper cosmetic restoration was done prior to him bringing it into the US. All the original British documentation, plates are with the car along with a British Layland Heritage Certificate.
Below is a complete, detailed list of all the modifications and enhancements - please take the time to read it and do your own research if needed.
ENGINE:
1275 A+ block bored to 1330 with AE / Mural "Mega Comp" 6 cc dished pistons. "Evo" oil pump, "Swiftune" SW5-07 billet road camshaft, "Swiftune" race cam followers, "Evo" chrome/molly tubular "Javelin shape" pushrods, "Evo" 1.5 ratio roller-tip assemblies with bushed arms. 12G1316 lightly ported/polished unleaded 11 stud cylinder head, bronze-silicon tapered guides, Rimflo valves (intake 1.4/exhaust 1.25), cooper s dual valve springs, Payan "470" head gasket, Swiftune duplex alloy/steel adjustable timing gear set w/ Swiss made "Iwis" chain, APR fasteners fitted. New HiF - 44 carburator, high quality electric fuel pump (alcohol and bio fuel resistant), adjustable fuel pressure regulator, Lucas sport ignition coil, high torque starter, new battery 9/15.
EXHAUST:
LCB header, stainless steel center pipe, "RC 40" muffler.
GEARBOX:
Fully rebuilt A+Rod change by "Guessworks UK", 3.2 final drive, close ratio (Clubman GT) fitted with S/GT laygear and S/GT 1st motion shaft 18 teeth (a + 18mm) X pin differential, competition factory lightened "EN8" pressure plate, factory lightened 3.2 lbs steel road spec flywheel with correct ring gear for later starter, A.P. race clutch disk "Blue Dot" diaphragm, new clutch master and slave cylinders fitted with "Goodrich" stainless flex hoses.
COOLING/HEATING:
3 Core "Rodded Out" copper/brass radiator, high capacity "deep empeller" water pump, larger water pump pulley, new "copper" heater core.
SUSPENSION/STEERING/BRAKES:
New (black) coil springs, "spax" adjustable shocks, hy-lo height adjustable suspension, front H.D arms fully adjustable (caster/camber/toe), "Superlite" 12 inch alloy wheels, re-built hubs with Timken bearings, close ratio steering rack, genuine Rover C.V. pot joints. 7-Enteprises re-built calipers, 8.4 inch drilled/grooved rotors, EBC green pads, finned rear alloy brake drums.
BODY/INTERIOR:
Body has been fully "Waxoiled" - absolutely solid with no rust, stainless steel wheel flares, 30 year aniversary half-leather interior, alloy covered wood dash with radio location and glove box (original radio delete plate included), 5 switch dash, new console, underlay and carpet, oil pressure gauge and tachometer added, fog and driving lights integrated with original switch/harness, pop-out rear windows, roof mounted antenna, sport steering wheel.
Original 63,927 miles since new, new zero miles instrument cluster after completion of the mechanical restoration - 5,903 miles currently.
All receipts for parts and machine work included.
The car presents excellent in all aspects, has minor imperfections as expected from the 35 years of age and 6 years since restoration. It is an exceptional Mini built to the limit, by people with knowledge, capability and resources - very difficult to find/replicate today.
Car comes with original owners manual and tool kit, two sets of keys and miscellaneous parts (original instrument cluster, some of the original parts and new spares).
It just had a complete service - cylinder head re-torqued, valve adjustment, spark plugs, oil change, carburetor mixture adjustment.
