Cars in Barns? How about a Mini in a Garage. A local, in town, has kept this in his dry garage for nearly fifteen years. Purchased for his wife, they barely put 2100 miles on it, before parking it. He couldn't get it running again and punted it to me. I got it fired in just a few minutes; drained some yellow gas, clean some sludge from the carb bowl and a sticky float needle. Lit right off with it's version of a purr. More of a quiet blat. The smog pump is in the back seat and the injection rail leaks a little exhaust. I bled the clutch and brakes, topped off the coolant and changed the oil. A quick wash and a blow gun to the cob webs and down the road we go. I decided not to touch anything else so the next owner can think about restoration ideas. I've driven it every few days for about fifty miles total. Not currently licensed. The whole car requires a thorough going over. It doesn't seem to burn oil. Engine is quiet. Clutch is just ok, occasional double clutching required.., I think the master is bypassing a bit. On a whole, the car is around 98% complete, with a lock bezel missing and possibly some trim. It had fender flares once, now gone. It does have some rust that I can see; one in the photo, lower front bumper facia is beat up. I haven't had it up in the air. It drives ok. Cold start takes several tries. The enrichment doesn't. Most likely more carb crud. It has been asleep for long time. Oh, it has a brand new battery and the previous owner chopped off the battery cables and added new ends. Ugly. Small details. The glass, dash-less a small crack in the right glove door, general sheet metal straightness- no signs of a crash, lower interior fabrics- drivers lower cover has two small splits, are all in very good condition. Head liner has what looks like Grateful Dead sticker residue in places. It would be impossible to list what I think it needs. Which is why I highly suggest it go either to an experienced wrench or to ye olde restoration shoppe. A daily driver it is not at this point. Just a nearly complete classic, unmolested by a teenager. I don't need another project since I haven't finished my last one. I have a packet of parts catalogs and info. Some dating to '82. Good reference media for the rebuild. The title is marked NON-ACTUAL mileage. It has a five digit odometer and Ohio requires it be marked so after roll over. What I do have is the Out of State inspection copy that shows the mileage at just over 102,000, from two owners back. I'm told this was imported thru Canada. It's also left hand drive. I pretty sure the current mileage now is a tad over 105k. I bought it with 4982 showing.
***Buyer to arrange pickup. Although, for the price of an average tow, $175, I'll deliver it in the tri city area of Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus Ohio. Farther, more money to be agreed upon, in cash or PayPal. But not very far. I'll except PayPal only for sale of vehicle. Title to be signed and delivered AFTER funds have been transferred to my checking account. This takes a few days as I don't sell many items on eBay. Time lag is their rules. Title has no Lien. This auction does have a Reserve. Video of running or driving it can be emailed.
